The balance we seek in life is within us. Not others. To be “in balance” we are in a place where we can allow our feelings to be part of us. This only happens when we are led by our rational logical mind. The rational logical mind, or the “functional adult”, is the part of us that makes good decisions, does good parenting of our kids, forgives self and others, and knows that humans need emotions to have relationships and simply be…human. Ask yourself this. What does your life look like when you are overly emotional and impulsive? What does your life look like when your nervous system is calm and you make patient decisions? What does your life look like when you can slow down and appreciate what’s important to you? How can we be more balanced and led by that “functional adult” while still having grace and love for our emotions and the emotions of others? What about when we can discern and make decisions that serve us and others without condemnation of self and others? Remember, we cannot serve and lead others without also serving and leading ourselves. |
